2-Person Cloud Collab

PostSat May 18, 2024 2:08 am

What I want to do:

Store source files on an SSD connected to my computer. Generate proxies with BMPG, then import the source/ proxy on my end since I will be color grading and toggling between the two types. Then, I want my wife to access the project with the proxy files for editing and audio.

I have the $5/ month cloud library on my account, and my wife has already set up her free account and has access to the cloud projects.

Is this possible, and what is the most efficient way to achieve it?

What additional hardware may I need to achieve it if it is not possible?

Thanks

I am not an expert at this, but have setup and am doing a 2-person cloud collab. As long as you both have Resolve capable systems you should be fine. Only one $5 library needed. Do not need cloud storage as you can send less than 2GB of proxies at a time, but seems like you can just hand off a SSD with all the files and proxies to the other. The Resolve cloud collab is very straight forward and simple... and works well.

It would be super cool if someone documented this and all related processes. There are some good YT videos but there's no "Remote audio work" or "Remote coloring work" workflow guides. As long as I've been using Resolve, I'm still confused as to how audio works with proxies and even some of the offline workflow ins and outs.

I would suggest that audio is handled similar to color in that original files are used. Original audio files can be placed on a separate track from any proxies and the proxies muted. Typically my original audio is from a Sound Devices recorder. (The audio part of the proxy from camera can still be used to sync.)
