Remove certain background sound

PostFri Jan 10, 2025 2:59 pm

Hi all,

I have a huge problem, because it is concerning most of the sound of my material.

There is one certain sound which is repeatedly coming and it's pretting annoying.

The camera guy who made the shots made terrible recordings and the sound is goind directly into the camera microphone. Sometimes it is even appearing

I uploaded an excerpt of the material:
https://www.sendspace.com/file/3rh2j1

You can hear it directly in the first 5 seconds.

Does anybody have an idea, how to fix this?
Is iZotope the right choice for these kind of things?

Thanks a lot!

I would have to hear it for sure, but iZotope RX Advanced can be a miracle worker. You basically "cut out" the bad interference like a power window in Spectral Editor, but there is a learning curve. They have some free trial versions you can test out:

Before you spend that kind of money, test out Resolve Voice Isolation (free in Resolve Studio) and see how that does.

Thanks Marc!

I have the Studio Version and the voice isolation is great.

But this certain sound is almost in every video.
And its not always about the parts, where the people speak.
Sometimes I just want to use the atmo sounds, but then this sound appears.

Try the iZotope trial version and see how it sounds. You're the best judge of this.

There are something like 9 or 10 dialogue extraction / noise-reduction / demixer software engines out there, and they're all different, they all cost money, and there's always a learning curve. Some of them do amazing results, and some are unpredictable. Some cause more harm than benefits. I have done miracles with iZotope RX Advanced, but it took about 6-7 hours to process five minutes of dialogue, so it wasn't fast and was not automatic. Once I finished, the filmmakers were thrilled and basically said, "I think you saved the picture."
