Decklink Output Mulitple Resolutions from Resolve

PostTue Mar 25, 2025 3:55 pm

Wondering if any of the current Decklink cards will allow me to output both UHD and HD simultaneously out of Davinci Resolve? Or do I require an external downconverter device?

Thanks!

Some BM devices do have hardware-based up/down converters. Check the spec's page.
For example, the UltraStudio 4K Extreme 3 has it. It can downconvert UHD to HD via SDI C and D. SDI A, B and HDMI will remain UHD.

Hi Grant

At least to my knowledge, currently in Resolve.
I can select only device (deckLink) at the same time ( :!: settings: Video I/O / Monitor device) and one resolution for external monitoring ( :!: timeline settings/Monitor)

I've used a Hyperdeck Studio HD Plus. It includes a 3G SDI Monitor OUT, which is a downscale output if the input is UHD. I haven't tested it with 24 or 23.98 FPS.

I hope help

Thanks for the replies. Not planning on spending $3k for the Blackmagic Design UltraStudio 4K Extreme 3, so I guess it's an external downconverter!

Cheers

We were able to purchase three UltraStudio 4K Extreme 3 12G boxes for $1000 (or less) on eBay, and several of them were virtually brand-new. I would not be surprised if new models are unleashed at NAB in a week.

Thanks Nelson. I've used Decimator for years in live event settings. They're great for that, but I'm looking for a really high-quality downconversion, and not sure Decimator would provide that.

Thanks, Mark! That's a great deal. I'll check it out! And keep my eyes open at NAB.
