Combining timelines

PostSat May 31, 2025 5:44 pm

Hi,
This must be quite basic but I just can't get it right. I simply want to combine a small number of timelines into a single 'composite' timeline for final edit.
I can do this but the 'sub' timelines appear each as a single clip so are not really editable.
How do I get the 'sub' timelines in editable (clip) form on the composite (final) timeline?
Many thanks for any help.
Terry.

You should move this to the Resolve forum.
Resolve 20.0 Mac OSX 15.5 Sequoia, Monitor 3G, FSI SDI grading monitor.
Mac M1 Studio Max 32GB

I'm not in front of my box right now, or i would be more specific, but there is a setting to enable using a timeline as a source to edit as either a consolidated compound clip, or as the original string of clips. It might be in the 3 dots in the upper right of the source monitor?

Hi Glenn,
Thanks for the reply.

I think I have solved the problem by ticking 'edit/decompose compound clips on edit' - this is probably what you were saying.
Cheers,
Terry
