Davinci Resolve doesn't recognize RED files

PostSun Apr 11, 2021 10:49 pm

I have a really weird problem. Davinci Resolve shows the red (.RDC) folders empty, it doesn't show any of the .R3D files that are on them therefore I can't import my media to edit and color. I tried dragging and dropping but it did not work. This is the first time I have a problem like this, I always import ARRI files with no problem. This is my first time importing R3D files, they're coming from a RED KOMODO. Am I missing something? Please help.

Which version of Resolve? AFAIK, the Komodo has a new codec. Can you see the footage in RedCine-X?
It opens fine here for me in 17.1.1.

It is Davinci Resolve 16. Yes I can see the footage in RedCine-X and everything works perfectly. I even checked on premiere pro and they work there too with no problem. But in davinci the folders appear empty, like the files didn't even exist.

Time to update. As I wrote, the codec is a recent variation of R3D.

I am having the same problem. I am up to date with Resolve 17.2.2 and I am importing archival footage from RED EPIC from around 2015. When opening the folder containing each clip, some clips are correctly read and viewable as R3D, yet others are showing the RDC folder that is not viewable. The strangest part is every time I close and then re-open the program, different clips will show as R3D or RDC. It is very inconsistent and must be some sort of codec reading problem?

Can you read them in REDCine-X? If so, I'd make a basic grade there and convert to an intermediate codec.

And then, I think it's not the same problem. If your R3Ds were split into several files in the camera, due to Red using pretty outdated file system, they may not have been copied correctly.
