Encoding .braw footage with ShutterEncoder/FFmpeg

PostMon Jul 12, 2021 11:23 pm

Hello there,

I'm hoping to use ShutterEncoder to create a watch folder that'll encode my 6k .braw footage into ProRes proxies. I'm getting this error from ShutterEncoder (which I guess uses FFmpeg as its engine)...

FFmpeg:Decoder (codec none) not found for input stream

Does this mean FFmpeg can't handle braw footage? Is there a codec I can install or something?

Yes, it's not capable of reading BRAW. Why not use Resolve for transcoding?
Maybe AI can help you. Or make you obsolete.

I use Resolve now. I want to switch to a Watch Folder based workflow.

You could try asking ShutterEncoder to integrate the Blackmagic RAW SDK into their app for support as other transcoding apps have done. There is no fee to do so.

I think you should be able to do it with one of the Assimilate tools which support BRAW and also ProRes on Windows (I think you also get all BRAW metadata passed to MOVs). Player Pro is 19$/month or 299$ permanent license.
