Best way to import project from Avid to Resolve?

PostMon Dec 06, 2021 2:26 pm

Hi,
I am wondering what is the best way to import a project from Avid. EDL or AAF? And if round tripping is needed, what would be the best workflow?

Thanks in advance.

AAF is the best.

Export AAF. Conform in Resolve to either your Avid MediaFiles storage or the camera original files.

When done in Resolve use the Avid preset in the Deliver page. This will render the new media and a new AAF to conform in Media Composer.

There are even better ways to do this, but they are more case specific. If all you are going to be doing in Media Composer is titling and need no individual shots nor handles, you can just export a DNxHD MXF from Resolve and bring that into Media Composer using the Media Tool.
