Decklink Duo vs Decklink Duo 2

PostWed Jul 06, 2022 4:39 pm

Hi guys, I have tried getting a proper comparison between features of Decklink Duo 2 and Decklink Duo. I will really appreciate any help identifying key feature and functionality differences because they seem like they are pretty much no difference and BMD haven't put this out clearly.

Note: would be great to have clear comparison charts for the different devices across all BMD products. It would healp with purchase decision.

They may look similar because physically they have 4 BNC ports but they are quite different.

The original Duo had 2 pairs of ports so it could do 2 in and 2 out.

The Duo 2 is essentially 2 Duo chips shoved onto the same board with combined ports. It gives you 4 ports that can all be in, out, or any combination in-between.

The Duo 2 is absolutely the way to go as it's way more flexible.

And the Duo only supports to 1080/30p or 1080i.
The Duo2 goes up to 1080/60p.
Apple M1 Systems won't support old Duo.
