DNG support in Resolve

PostTue Aug 16, 2022 6:34 am

Just to be clear:
DNG specification includes an IDT in metadata. This IDT consists of two sets of 3x3 matrices (for dual illuminant colour profile) plus a set of Hue Saturation data map table (ProfileHueSatMapData1 and ProfileHueSatMapData2).

The Hue/Sat Map is non-linear transform to map super saturated colours, which are not accurately mapped using linear (3x3 matrix) transforms.

It appears that Resolve does not use ProfileHueSatMapData, which results in incorrect mappring of saturated values and it is not compliant with the specification.

Can you please confirm this is the case?

What would be useful is to be able to turn the ProfileHueSatMapData on and off (for performance reasons).

We are not embarking on any further CDNG development.

'Development' doesn't just include new stuff, it also covers fixing old stuff.

I would take Peter's answer as "no" myself.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

That's disappointing Blackmagic do not intend to fix it and chose to not conform to the standard.
