Sony PVM-20L1 with Resolve?

PostSun Nov 27, 2022 8:16 pm

A friend who moved his business overseas just gave me a Sony PVM-20L1 Trinitron monitor; it's probably 15 years old, but it still works and looks good. My questions: Can it be used with my system (DR 18.1.1 on a 2020 M1 Mini running OS 13.0.1 Ventura), not necessarily as a reference monitor but mostly to augment the BenQ 27-inch monitor I'm using now? And, if it can be used with my setup (and is not a terrible idea), what do I need from Blackmagic to get it up and running?

Isn't that an SD Rec.601 monitor? Not sure that'd have any value today.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

That monitor has 2 composite video inputs and a Y/C input.

If you already have a BMD I/O product producing an SDI output, you could feed that to one of our Mini Converter SDI to Analog converters, and feed the output of that to the monitor. The converter has an HD to SD downconverter, so you could also feed an HD SDI display at the same time.
