Mac Studio M1 Max 2022 Monterey 12.6.3 - Same thing happened when the Mac was running Ventura. Premiere Pro 23.2.0 Ultra Studio Extreme 3 Thunderbolt 3.0 Connection (I've tried three different cables with the same result - Belkin 2.0M and Anker 1.6ft) Driver 12.4.2 was downgraded to 12.3.1 this morning with the same result.
Issue:
Premiere Pro timeline/source window playback will randomly stop. It will still allow me to move the playhead in the timeline/source window - although, I get no playback. The playback window and external playback monitor will be stuck on the frame of video in which the issue/crash occurred.
Simple sequences and clips in source window - ProRes and MXF AVC footage result in this. Editors have complained this happens with typical edit sequences also.
Slightly confused regarding the audio monitoring. The speakers are fed directly from the XLR Outputs on the back of the Blackmagic Ultra Studio - is that not what those outputs are for?
I think it's best to leave ALL "Audio Hardware" set to "System Default" settings, and change your "Primary Audio Device" in "Playback" to "Blackmagic Playback."
Selecting ANY BM devices in "Audio Hardware" will cause problems in my experience, poor playback performance at worst, sync issue at the very least.
Well, yes that's my suggestion as well. Setting it up the way as above is different than SDI/HDMI monitoring as far as I remember (long time ago since I used Premiere with BM card).
