Fairlight cannot record audio?

PostFri Jun 02, 2023 9:50 pm

I am at my wits end with this, I figured I'd reach out one more time.

Can someone walk me through the process of recording internal audio ("What You Hear") into Fairlight (on Mac)?

For literally every other NLE software it's a simple process of selecting Blackhole as an input source and setting my Mac Sound Source to Blackhole. Boom. Done.

In DaVinci Fairlight, I cannot get it to do this with any configuration or aggregate device or anything. I am concluding that Fairlight just cannot record audio inputs.

Please, someone help me record Blackhole audio into a timeline in DaVinci.
I've even tried recording from LOOPBACK channels on my Scarlett (which also works in every other software)

Patching the input on a track yields nothing. Flat sound recording. Silence.

Is your audio device recognised in the Audo/Video section of the System Settings?
Here's my setup using a Zoom R16.

Have you patched the input channels to the appropriate tracks in Fairlight?
You need to detail exactly the steps you have taken to setup the audio device and assign tracks etc as it's hard to guess if it's your setup or an incompatible device.

Hello everyone,

I am having this issue and I can't seem to find an answer that helps.

I have tried multiple patches and changed the input configurations in both the program and the system and can't seem to have audio coming in from my Scarlett interface.

The Davinci Resolve version I am on is the beta 18.5 not sure if this might be the reason.

My computer is the Mac M2 Pro running MacOS Ventura 13.4

Thanks in advance

Is the Scarlett selected as the default device in AMS?
macOS Applications folder > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup

Right click the source list and select "Use this device for sound input" for the Scarlett.
⟦ Mac Pro 7,1 Rack ⊕ 16-core 3.2GHz ⊕ 32GB RAM ⊕ Radeon 580X • Resolve Studio 18.6.6 • macOS 14.3.1 ⟧
⟦ Fairlight Studio Console ⊕ Fairlight Audio Accelerator ⊕ Merging Hapi • Anubis • Ravenna CoreAudio VAD ⟧

Thanks for your reply,

Yes, it is selected in the AMS as the default for input and output as well.

Still have the same issue.

Is this isolated to the Scarlett?

Are you able to take an input from built in audio (e.g. MacBook Pro microphone)?

It seems like it is only through the Scarlett as I can do it using the built in mic. I must also say that in any other DAWs the interface is working properly and I have switched it off and on a couple of times.

Thanks
