Using Ultrastudio Express (Desktop video 9.7.7) with Final Cut Pro 7. Whenever an odd frame image is loaded into the Viewer FCP crashes. Starting a project that is a mix of odd-framed still images and this will be an issue when previewing source material in monitors during edit.
Example: I have a 1080i HD project set up in FCP. And I import two TIF photos. One still is 2000 x 1500 (landscape) and it seems to perform fine. However, the second image is 1500 x 2000 (portrait: 1500 wide, 2000 high). The second image, when opened in Viewer, creates an immediate FCP crash.
"Final Cut Pro quit unexpectedly while using the Blackmagic Codec plug-in."
However, that same odd sized image (1500 x 2000) when cut into the sequence, plays fine. It's only if I open in Viewer that a crash occurs.
Had the same issue with a small sized graphic file. I resized it in Photoshop to 1920 x 1080 and all was fine.
Can anyone shed some light on either the FCP 7 issue?
I know FCP 7 is dated, But we will be upgrading to Premiere Pro CC. Is this same issue in Premiere, issues when Previewing non-standard frame sized media? I imagine things will work well once that media is cut into a standard timeline or sequence, but what happens when Previewing the native source material?
Thanks
