I just installed DaVinci Lite and restarted my computer but can't find any trace of it to get it running.
The only new installation is something called pgAdminIII.
Don't have a clue as to what this is.??

Win 7 64bit
NVIDIA card
32G RAM

Start menu, Blackmagic Design folder, then DaVinci Resolve folder, then Resolve.

Well, I guess I should have looked in \Program Files in my OS directory. It is there after drilling down to the exe, but I'm used to (spoiled, I guess) seeing something in my Start Menu or at least a shortcut somewhere. I'm not used to having to create my own shortcuts for programs that should make it part of the installation.
Will do that now.

Thanks very much
Joe

There should already be a shortcut in the Start Menu as Dwaine details above.

There is, but only in my admin account as I discovered later, even though I installed it from my user account.
I refuse to run anything from within my admin account. That's just begging for trouble.
In any case I found the program nearly impossible to use. Most of the buttons don't respond to clicking and everything is very non-intuitive. For example, none of the buttons in the toolbar above the timeline respond to anything. When I click on them, nothing happens, even though I have clip(s) selected in the timeline below. I have followed the instructions in the manual and most things just don't work.
If I could find a way to install it correctly, I would be happy to try it again, but for now I have uninstalled it.
Also, the program itself and that PostGREsql app that installed with it take up nearly 400 gigabytes of space (according to the Programs and Features page in Control Panel) . Not happy with that, either.
Can anyone comment on the PostGREsql thing?

Thanks much
Joe

Hi Joe, DaVinci Resolve is a very powerful application that does require a specific hardware setup, which is why we publish configuration guides, and does require a learning phase, which is why we publish a comprehensive manual which includes a getting started a tutorial.

You didn't list in your first post the image processing GPU you have installed in your system and that GPU is key to operation. The PosGres SQL database is set up for projects but Resolve will by default use a file based disk database for new users.

Have a read through the docs and I think your second try with Resolve will be easier.

Thanks very much, Peter.
I guess the power of DaVinci is worth the effort. I will keep trying.
