HDMI vs. HD-SDI

Adding a new monitor to our studio and considering the Panasonic 50in. plasma.

Would HDMI suffice as an interface for grading in terms of color space or is HD-SDI a requirement?

The host Mac has DeckLink with SDI out and we have previously purchased a BMD SDI to HDMI mini converter, so I'm hoping that HDMI would be good for color grading and I can sabe the cost of purchasing an SDI terminal for the plasma monitor ($1400)

Thanks in advance for all input,

Nims

id depends from your plasma .. if it is 10bit , then SDI is good .. but SDI card into panasonic plasma are realy expensive .. for 8bit panel is HDMI ok ..

Thank you. I thought HDMI is 10-bit. DeckLink cards support 10-bit HDMI...

We're getting this monitor:

There's no mention in the specs whether it is 8 or 10 bit. What do you think?
