separately recorded audio tracks appearing as one track

PostFri May 22, 2020 8:06 am

Hi

I record a lav mic to the the mini trs channel and a shotgun mic to the mini xlr channel on bmpcc 4k.

In Da Vinci resolve they both appear as a single track.

Any idea why they dont appear as two mono tracks?

I must be missing something obvious and for that apologies in advance.

Best

You are getting it wrong: what you are looking for are channels, not tracks!
Just go into your Clip Attributes and you can configure it any way you like.

The manual explains it at length, but here you go:

You must do this before adding clips to the Timeline.
Select a clip or clips (it works on multiple selected clips at the same time) in the media bin. Right click on one of them and select Clip Attributes then the Audio tab. Change Format to Mono and Tracks to 2, and hit Add. You will get two mono tracks in addition to the stereo one. If you don't require the stereo one it can be removed via the bin symbol you will get if you move the mouse pointer to it.
Clips will now import into the Timeline with two mono tracks.
