Transcoding Red footage media
Firstly from my many years of viewing this world I see software or hardware developers who either always put their hands up and say NOT ME or those who always listen.
New to Red media.
I am transcoding from 4K R3D files to DPX 16bit in Resolve latest ver.
My system is crashing roughly twice in a long extended day ( 24hrs ). Blue screen.
It is not the trillions of issues that could be wrong and my system is Air Conditioned.
First time ever blue screen.
Phoned RED and the very quickly and thourghly got me up and running over night transcoding
from R3D to DNX 185x in RedCine X. No crashes what so ever. Yes, it could be those trillion of reasons.
This is the PRO market not the Consumer playing field. One foot here and one foot there.
The one other thing that was troubling me was the there was a big difference in the look of the R3D media to the Transcoded DPX files. ( Resolve ) This is after setting the camera settings ( Project ) which were shot BOG standard.
This has not been the case with RedCine X. the media transcoded looks exactly like the original.
The files being transcoded in Resolve were only in the Library.
I also set up my HP XW8200 to transcode using RedCine X overnight, NO CRASHES, little slower but I
am surprised to see it steadily doing it's JOB.
Could be those trillions of reasons!! I will meet my DEADLINE sunday.
Just to mention I have calibrated monitors and my work looks the same on other calibrated monitors.
Anyway, I suppose this is a good learning curve.
