Terranex Mini SDI to 8K but no 4K??

We recently bought a Terramex Mini hoping to use it between a workstation machine (Linux) and a SONY BVM 300. On the box, all the various formats supported are listed. However, on output, the unit will only do HD or 8K but nothing inbetween.

Kind of strange. Why no 4K, which is currently more important to have than 8K?

How about doing a firmware upgrade??

According to the technical specifications on the website, the Teranex Mini SDI to HDMI 8K converter will output a 4K signal over a single HDMI connector or an 8K signal over 4 HDMI connectors. It supports multiple signal formats at both 2160p and 4320p:
