Mini Recorder and Directshow

PostSun Aug 25, 2013 9:15 am

Hi! I would like to use a Mini Recorder for recording and showing video simultaneously.
I have not purchased the card yet, because I am not sure that capturing and playing at the same time is possible with this card. Or do I need to choose another model of Decklink?
I am a programmer with Directshow experience. I would like to develop my own software for my purpose.
Thank you for your reply!

Where are you wanting to play the video? The mini recorder is an input only card so you can't output through it

Are you simply wanting to record the video... and display it at the same time on the computer display?

If so... yes that is possible Media Express (the included Blackmagic capture/playback software) will do that.

If you are a Directshow programmer you can use the SDK to do whatever you want.

There is a detailed post here which describes one approach to doing capture and display.
