DeckLinnk mini monitor work?

PostFri Aug 30, 2013 4:24 pm

Would the simple Decklink Mini Monitor card provide playback to an external HD monitor in Resolve?
I have the Decklink Studio card now and it works but I am trying to free up a Pcie slot in my Mac Pro.
Also, with my Decklink Studio card is there a method for monitoring full screen HD to my external monitor if my timeline is set to 4K resolution. I get a 1080 crop on my external monitor. I have messed with output resolutions but have not been able to get that to work. I assuming it does not down convert the signal on playback, but plays out the 1080 window of the 4K image.
thanks

Hey Bill,

I have the Decklink Mini Monitor and it works as I expected it to do. FullHD preview on an external monitor with no problems so far. I can't tell you how 4K is handled cause I've just the Lite version currently. But as far as I understand it you could at least set your timeline to 1920x1080 or something like this while working to get a preview of the full images and later switch back to 4K before exporting, if resolve isn't able to downsize for the output via the Decklink.

Premiere for example can't preview a project configured at 4K via the Decklink while Final Cut Pro X flawlessly displays a 4K project via the Decklink downsized to 1080p. This was the only software I had to test it so this is what I can tell.
