I'm rendering at about 35-40fps to ProRes 422 HQ, but I'm on a single GTX680 and internal RAID on my Mac Pro. With more GPUs and faster RAID, we should be able to get much faster renders. MXF DNxHD36 renders go at a similar speed.

Ok something is weird then. I'm getting about 2 frames a sec. To prores. On a beefy system, v fast ext raid, cubix, etc.
I've seen this behaviour intermittently prores to prores, but restart the render and it shoots back up to 80-90 frames a sec.
But I've rebooted and same slow render with the dng. I will try again tomorrow.

oh my god ok.
mac pro 2.4 / 8 core 2010 5.1 model
24gb ram
Mac os 10.8
radeon 5770
cubix with 3 gtx 570
8 drive sas raid 5 (650mb+ r&w)
decklink extreme HD 3d + super duper or whatever it's called
sony pvm oled 24" + panny bt300 50"
mouse / keyboard
aeron chairs / ikea carpet

point is, HD prores was rendering 80 frame a sec (w/ blurs & nr)
cinema dng 2.5k to hd is still rendering about a frame a sec (w/ blurs & nr) - note: playback is realtime
something is up...

That's what I call 'beefy'; the workstation looks awesome except your carpet may be due for an upgrade!
(hope you can still laugh in the midst of your difficulty and I trust you'll find the solution soon)
