6x2 WD Cavier Black 2 TB HDD VS PromisePegasus R6 (12TB)

Question says it all

I know R6 raid is number 1 Choice

But after all build and camera set up , I'm on tight budget now.

Only thing left in my build is Online and Offline stoage:

For offline storage I'm considering 3 x 2TB WD external drives (cant afford tapes now)

For online storage I'm 6x2 WD Cavier Black 2 TB HDD VS PromisePegasus R6 (12TB)

Well 6x2 WD Cavier Black 2 TB HDD is costing me around $900

and PromisePegasus R6 (12TB) is costing me $2,299.

I will have to pay more 1399$ for R6 , But it will take sometime(around 3 months) for me , So which is best option wait for 3 months and take R6 or go with 6 x2 WD Cavier Black 2 TB ?

I will be shooting Prores for next 5 months. (10-15 minutes duration films)

Suggestions and Ideas?

1. is your power supply got enough juice to power 6 more hard drives?

2. What is your cooling situation like? 7 hard drives plus any mid-top level GPU will generate some serious heat.

The price is right, but there are some factors to keep in mind...

I just decided to put two WD Cavier Black 2 TB HDD so total 4tb in internal raid and I will use this for editing my prores footage (bmcc mft) and I guess it will be good for editing 10 to 15 mins or more easily, what do you say?

and I'll have my OS X mountain lion and programs on my sandisk extreme 240 gb ssd.

and psu: Corsair HX750 (750 watt)
cooler: H100i 240mm liquid cooler

That would work. 2 drives will give you about 200 to 225 MB/sec. That's plenty for playback. So really the rest depends on how many nodes you use in Davinci. What GPU do you have?

The sandisk 240 is a great OS disk. That's what I'm running.

Gpu is One 4gb card, nvidia evga gtx 760

You should be fine. I have a 1GB 560Ti and I can playback raw files in Resolve in realtime
