HDMI Quad Recorder vs US Mini Recorder EDID - 5D mkiii

PostMon Sep 21, 2020 12:24 am

I replaced my BMD Ultrastudio Mini Recorder with the Decklink HDMI Quad recorder. My 5d mkiii 1080i clean video is captured flawlessly with the Mini Recorder in 1080i or 1080p. When I patch the HDMI cable into the Quad Recorder however, the Quad recorder only sees the input as 525i59.94NTSC which triggers the OSD on the camera. In Short the HDMI into the Mini Recorder is perfect but into the Quad recorder is unusable. It appears that each recorder is requesting a different signal from the camera. Perhaps the EDID is a factor? If so how do I force 1080i/1080p or eliminate 525i59.94NTSC from the Quad recorder input?

UPDATE: This thread has some hardware solutions for this (use a monitor with HDMI pass through or a HDMI splitter to influence/upscale the signal) viewtopic.php?f=18&t=96711&p=669704#p669704 However I would still like a software/firmware solution from BMD or at least an official lossless solution. One that doesn't require additional hardware between camera and capture card as its hard to tell what other artefacts the image may pickup or loose along the way.
