Weird pink cast to video

After much tearing of hair trying to get audio through hdmi working on my Ultrastudio Recorder 3g, I saw mention in other threads about using one of those hdmi to sdi micro converters so I purchased one along with an sdi cable. Was very pleased to see the audio meters active in media express after I'd hooked it all up except now it has introduced a new problem, the picture has a weird pink and green tinge to it. It's probably something really simple I've overlooked but any advice on where to start troubleshooting is most welcome.
