When, how sync audio.....

PostFri Sep 06, 2013 8:12 pm

I'm new to the RAW workflow... I'm going to shoot with my BMCC in RAW, and record audio separately. For the editing I'm going to convert the RAW in Resolve into Proxies. After editing Proxies in FCPX I'm going to color grade and correct it on a separate machine, probably in a pos house.

When and how should I sync the audio with the video footage? With Proxies in the FCPX? But how that transfers to the RAW originals?

Thanks

If you capture dual audio...so, audio in-camera AND off-camera...you could sync post color correct, when you output your rendered footage. Using Plural Eyes would make this easier than doing it manually.

The audio that goes in-camera doesn't have to be that great, just clean and moderate level. Plural eyes will breakup and line up all your good audio with the scratch audio. Then import the completed project to your NLE for final export.
