Hey all - I'm a real estate videographer using DR 16. I shoot with a BMPCC4k. Most of my projects are shot in BRAW, UHD and in a HFR with a 180 Degree shutter angle (usually 48/24, as I provide finished products in 24FPS)
As some houses use poorer lighting, or fluorescent ballasts underneath kitchen cabinets, I do come across flickering in the bulbs when shooting in slow motion. Normally it's not a big deal, as OFX Deflicker generally does the trick. I do encounter a serious wobble/exaggeration of camera-shake though if I also add stabilization to the shot (I generally shoot on a Gimbal - It allows me to quickly shoot homes during COVID, which is a big client-ask in my area).
I've pretty much narrowed down the issue to the fact that the flickering light is causing the Stabilizer in DR16, since the exaggerated wobble times out to the flickering bulbs in the room. Has anyone else encountered this, and possibly found a workaround? I'm thinking the easiest workaround is just to shoot it in Real-time and just focus on getting that shot done as steadily as possible.
