UltraStudio Monitor 3G disables 2nd Thunderbolt port

Just got my UltraStudio Monitor 3G to run with my HP ZBook Avid system.
Installed software and plugged it all up. Fired the Avid up and everything just seemed to work except...
My second Thunderbolt port seems to be disabled when the Monitor 3G is plugged in. Is this a feature? Or have I got something set-up wrong?
