Build a collaborative environment on 1gbps local network
Hello. Is it still worth working on a 1gbps base local network on Resolve?
My need is to include 1-2 collaborative users in our local network, but we are all limited to 10/100/1000 normal Ethernet ports on our computers (2x Mac Pro late 2013 and 1 iMac i7 late 2012).
I usually work with Prores422 FullHD or Cineform FullHD medium proxies for editing and multicam and checking their bitrates they should theoretically not saturate a 1Gbps network. What I have doubts about are things like latency, 4k footage onto FullHD timelines (for FullHD delivery), multitracks (multicam) and the correct Raid configuration. I have and old i7 pc I'd like to put at use as NAS, adding some WD Red NAS HDDs. Any feedbacks, tips? Thank you!
