LOCATE IN MASTER TIMELINE missing?!

PostMon Sep 09, 2013 4:35 pm

Hi there, guys.

This is quite perplexing.

Page 252 of the manual states
To locate a clip in the Master Timeline:
> Right-click any clip in the Timeline, and choose Locate in Master Timeline from the contextual menu.
That clip appears highlighted in the Master Timeline at the bottom of the Conform page, and the Master Timeline playhead moves to intersect that clip.

I see FIND IN MEDIA POOL but not LOCATE IN MASTER TIMELINE...

To re-render RAW cine DNGs for FX I need to render the full clip to my FX team urgently. (Not the clip's In & Out points from the XML). I need to render from the Master Timeline... But can't find these clips. Please help.

Thanks.

If you select the Master Timeline on the Conform page, instead of a conformed timeline (in the Timelines area in the upper left of the Conform page), then you can select the desired clips to render on the Deliver page, and it will render the entire clip.

Yes, thanks. That, I know.

But with that menu feature missing there is absolutely no link between the clip I'm looking at in the conformed XML that points to it's presence in the Master timeline. My key need here is to be able to identify a specific clip I'm looking at in the conformed timeline inside the Master timeline.

thanks!

On the Conform page, find the clip in the thumbnail timeline. Right click and select "Find in Media Pool". Right click the selected clip in the Media Pool and select Flags, and apply a flag to the clip.

On the Deliver page, in the lower right hand area, select the magnifying glass icon, and select Show Flagged Clips and select the flag color you applied on the Conform page.

Thanks, D
That's a helpful workaround. I did not know I can limit the delivery timeline by those filter options. Could be good for future applications.

Still curious: Any idea what happened to the LOCATE CLIP IN MASTER TIMELINE option that p252 of the manual refers to?

Thnx!

The current manual was written early in the Resolve 9 beta test phase. There are things in there that got changed and/or removed from the release version. This appears to be one of them.

Thanks, D.
Would be a nice feature to have, though... Especially with BMCC cineDNG raw workflows (without Timecode) that involve FX treatments while the edit is yet to be locked. Then using the master clip as a fallback is a good option to have and not having to do the work-around would be nice.

Thanks again.
Keep making the world a better place... :-)
