shot in 17:9, output 16:9

PostSun Nov 01, 2020 9:39 pm

Hi, I recorded all clips in my movie, landforsale, in 4096x2160.

I want to deliver regular, streaming a. ratio 16:9 . Obvioulsy, I want to work in the format I will deliver, in Timeline .

When Timeline set to 3840x.. I see the black bars on top and bottom .

Reason I recorded that format, was to be able to have some extra widt, and seize for moving clips/ adjusting in edit .

So, how do I set this up, and treat the clips. Should I just zoom in each clip til the black lines is gone ?
I will loose some resolution that way I guess.

What I now did, and what seem to work, is : Resolution to 3840, and Image scaling to
: INput scaling .Center crop with no rezising . OUtput scaling : tick ON Match timeline setting, and ,
Mismatch resolution files ; Center crop with no resizing .

So now I can move the clip til the end clip on both sides, to fully use the potential and width of the 4096 resolution .

Will this work on Deliver ?

You are doing right, regarding the settings for the timeline.
Deliver won't care, it'll just take what's in the timeline, simply export as UHD. What you set would take care of a timeline in DCI, but it shouldn't hurt either.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.
