PC recommendations for DaVinci please

PostTue Nov 03, 2020 10:47 am

My MacBook has put up with a 6 year battering traveling around Europe and Central Africa, it even entertained my upgrade attempts along the way. I recently worked on a feature film as the wrangler/D.I.T (working with rushes from Alexa mini) and took the opportunity to use DaVinci Resolve which I loved.

In short I'm looking to spec a system to use DaVinci on a daily basis. Due to the massive price tags of new Macs I'm looking for PC recommendations, ideally laptops as I travel quite a lot with work. I've considered a few options an example of which I have listed below.

I'm not expecting anything ground breaking for the budget (<£2,000), just something reliable for the next couple of years. Would this be a suitable system spec to run DaVinci efficiently and potentially be a good system spec to learn C4D on?

Advice and recommends welcome, thanks in advance

I don't want to take this discussion off track, but would like to flag that Apple has just scheduled an event for November 10 that it's calling "One More Thing". It's likely that the One More Thing includes a 16" MacBook Pro with the new Apple processor. Might be worth checking out, from curiosity if nothing else.
Video Cameras: iPhone, Pocket 4K
Microphones: Schoeps, DPA, Voice Technologies
Audio Recorder: Sound Devices
Monitor: Eizo
