Batch converting BRAW for client archives

Hi,

I have a rather large documentary project that I just completed (about 11TB of braw footage). My edit is done, but the client now wants to purchase all of the raw footage for their own archives. I shot everything in BRAW for my own post-production benefits and preferences, but obviously that won't be a practical archive for them.

I'm wondering what is the most efficient method of batch processing the footage to h264 with a LUT applied? I don't need Prores HQ or anything that high level for the client. They need archives that they can easily browse and grab material for quick social media edits and such. I will still keep the main archive for any heavy lifting in the future, should they need it.

There is also of course the nightmare of endless folder structures and such for this project, so any workflow tips that take that into account are also very much appreciated.

Hi Omid,

What software can you use exactly ?

If you have the Adobe CC video suite, maybe you can bring all the folders you have into a fresh Premiere Pro project, select all the .BRAW, apply LUTs in Lumetri in each of them in their Master tab (Lumetri applied on the Source project item) and then export the clips with Media Encoder.

If you can't add all the Lumetri like that you could bring all the .BRAW in one timeline, sequentially, grade each of them, then export all the timeline in different parts with a technique called AfterCodecs MultiRender. But it will only work easily if all the .BRAW are the same resolution and framerate !

Not sure how you could keep the folder structure :(

Maybe you can do this kind of things with DaVinci Resolve too

Have a look at Kyno.

I just downloaded the trial for Kyno. Pretty damn brilliant. The option to transcode to pretty much whatever you want while preserving folder structures is exactly what I needed.

I'll be purchasing this for sure. The browsing alone is on a whole other level from everything else.
