I often have iPhone footage that i include in my videos. Unfortunately, it appears that there's often judder introduced to the rendered out videos that are not on the original source videos. I understand iPhone has a variable frame rate so it doesn't appear there's an option for this in Davinci. Does anyone know a good work around? I have heard of the handbrake idea but that seems like a lot of steps that may still lose quality.

Unfortunately, even FiLMiC Pro is not delivering CFR. This is a genetic 'disease' of smartphones.
Transcoding is not a bad idea, but use something that can transcode to an easier codec without quality loss, like Cineform or DNx.
