New Teranex Mini optical to HDMI12G - Fan noise

I bought a new Teranex Mini and am disappointed from the fan noise which starts immediately after some minutes of power on. It sounds very unhealthy and loud as if the Fans were of low quality !

I read in another thread that it could be a problem of the Firmware ?
Which FW Level does not have this problem ?

I am not sure if BMD is using the same fan in the Teranex Mini as in the Teranex AV - but probably.
I have replaced that terrible 40mm Cofan fan in my Teranex AV with one from Noctua. Now my device is super silent.

All teranex converters make a LOT of noise. The teranex minis have a Snailhouse fan. So that Noctua isnt going to help you..

I am somewhat reluctent to try to change the Fan in a brandnew box.
Think there was a rumor that this noise came with a certain FW release.
Question is, what FW release is better from a noise perspective?

With new box it's a bit of gamble as you loose warranty. Once warranty is gone I would do it straight away (if you know just a bit about electronics).

What I found out so far it is a:
3 pin, 60x60x25, DC Radial(centrifugal) Fan blower, Voltage ?

I googled some hours now - but without sucess
Very hard to find on Internet

It is quite likely a 12VDC blower.

There is one from Sunon:
60x60x25 / 3600 RPM / Air Flow CFM 7.3 /32.4 dBA with MAGLev technology.

In most devices BMD is using a Micro JST ZH 1.5mm 4-pin female connector.
So you could just unplug the original blower and replaced it with another to which you solder the extra connector.

great - thank you, seems to be a valid one.
I found a company in Germany who have it on stock - I ordered it, will arrive in a couple of days.

The BMD Fan is a cheap 3pin version and not a PWM type Fan - that would be a design hint for BMD to control the heat and to reduce the noise.

Problem is price. Those cheap fans etc is one of the ways how BM can reduce pricing. Another is cheap power supplies etc. You get what you pay for

The new Fan has arrived - it costs me € 6,74 plus admin cost.
It fits perfectly and the unhealthy noise(schrapeln) has gone.
Yes, the voltage is 12V.
It is still hereable 29dbA but it is not disturbant as the old one.
