VHS to Digital Conversion

PostTue Mar 16, 2021 9:39 pm

Hey Everyone -

I'm looking to build out a workflow for converting & upconverting analog formats like VHS, MiniDV, Hi8, etc. to digital formats using Blackmagic's Teranex AV/Express. Looking for some suggestions on products that can accomplish this, and what workflow makes the most sense? From what I can tell my workflow would be something like this..... VHS deck > Analog to SDI or HDMI converter > Teranex > HDMI out to Mac/PC > Media Express or Premiere Pro or Davinci for capturing video? Does this make sense or am I way off base here? Would love to hear what everyone thinks? I appreciate it!

You'll also need a high grade time base corrector to ensure frames are not dropped and skipped.

Forget about this with BlckMagic products.
Years of unresolved audio sync problems with Intensity Shuttle (yes - with TBC either)

There's way to resolve this issue with the audio sync issues. I use a teranex av and delay the frames about 3 or so that matches perfectly.
