Ultrastudio HD issues

PostThu Apr 15, 2021 3:14 pm

Hi,

I just received an Ultrastudio HD, and am having issues with it, namely, I'm having frame losses up the wazoo, can't capture more than a few frames before failure.

note: all cables are brand new...

the chain is as follows:

source
hyperdeck studio mini (to see that the signal is good, this one is able to record perfectly)
Ultrastudio HD
mbp 16" big sur with latest desktop video software

test #1:

cold start the mac fresh
record on the hyperdeck for several minutes, no issues
lauch bmd media express, switch to the record tab

results:

see that the picture on the ultrastudio and media express keeps blinking to black, while the hyperdeck shows no such blinking

test #2:

cold start the mac fresh
lauch resolve, muck with the project settings to get the right 1080p50 for capture
go to the capture tab
click on "capture"

results:
get the dreaded "can't capture, lost frames" dialog after 1/2 second or so

I’ll second that
I have EXACT same issues.
Cannot find any workaround, tried different sources, different computers, different capture programs, different (shielded) cables. All the same.... :(

Use a good brand and not more than 50cm, 30cm is even better.
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

Well, it's just personal experience with keeping those short to have my eGPU running flawlessly.
