DaVinci on the new iPad PRO?

PostWed Apr 21, 2021 11:42 am

as Apple has not delivered a FCPX version for the new iPad Pro M1 and as the M1 version of DaVinci Resove exists

Is it possible to argue a portable version of the NLE in the new apple monster?
or there are bottle necks I dont know?

Great idea. They would have to add a touch interface layer to Resolve to get it to work.

I don't know how productive can one be editing/grading on an IPad (even for dailies) when it is already limited in performance on current M1 Macs/Macbooks, and probably worse on the new IMacs.

Why worse? Only equally limited.
No, an iGPU is not enough, and you can't use HEVC 10 bit 4:2:2 in the free version.

Technically speaking the new iPad Pros are an MacBook Air/Pro minus the keyboard, half the battery, plus touch screen and 5G module. So yes - IF Apple will allow it to run Big Sur (again - technically it should be trivial) it should be running as on MacBook but I do not see the benefits of having a touch screen and 5G module for running DaVinci Resolve...

I see a lot of benefit to have touchscreen in using DaVinci if of course modified to be used in this way as well as I see a lot of benefit to have 5G connection as you'd send the final footages to the net for livestreaming for example.
Personally I dont see benefit to use a new iPad as total alternative to a mighty Da Vinvi workstation BUT if you are on the field well thing change a lot.
The idea to have BigSur (with touch screen capability) on an iPad to me is great

Yes, equally limited is more appropriate. I said worse because while you have up to 16Gb RAM on the Mac Mini M1 and MBP M1, the IMac can't and I understand it only comes with 8Gb max.

You can get 16 just the same.

Really? I have not seen any 16 advertised for the IMac M1. Do you have a link?

Dear Ellory as psychiatrist I do say that you are right: in virtual places like this people think to act "professional" and "at high level" so the capacity (the mental sanity) to be able to joke is banned as evil.
But the evil is the INCAPACITY to joke...

that my information was perhaps wrongly accepted, is perhaps because english
is not my mother tongue, and also that it was not meant as a joke unlike
ellorys statement, where he desperately had to attach a laughing emoji
and most also do not understand.
