Intensity Pro - Distorted audio 1080i on editing PC #1

PostTue Jul 20, 2021 2:35 am

I have 3 Intensity Pro editing computers and for the purposes of this post I'll explain that I've tried the same cable into all 3 PC's.

Project Video Format is 1080i59.94.
Only PC #1 has a garbled wobbly sound.

Regardless if I switch input cables between the 3 PC's I get the same results.

Now for the astonishing part is that a pre-recorded clip works just fine.

I took the most drastic step to resolve the issue which was to remove everything but the video card and re-installed Windows 10 Professional 20H2, Build 19042.1110. BTW, editing PC #2 is the same exact Windows build.

The next drastic step to determine if the Intensity Pro is defective or not will be to swap it with one of the known good Intensity Pro's.

Am I on the right track? Perhaps the circuit that takes the audio input and saves it to the NVMe drive is going out or is out?

Should I begin budgeting for an Intensity Pro 4K? This in only for post production as a hobby at home.

Let me know what you all think. As anyone knows it's a task as a last resort to disassemble the PC and start moving components around.

Thanks,

Terry

Not sure I fully understand your post.
Is this with respect to analog video captured with the card?

Is the "wobbly" sound only in files captured with the one PC? and files captured by the otehr two the other two PCs are OK?

Is the sound OK on a clips previously captured with the problematic PC, but only with newly captured clips?

I note your are doing HD, does it happen with SD as well?

Are the PCs identical; same processor, memory, drives, etc.?

If the sound is bad only on one PC then swapping the cards would determine if it is related to the card. If the bad sound moves with the card, the card is suspect. If it remains with the PC then something is amiss in the PC. A first suspect would be other processes running the background.

Sorry if I wasn't able to describe my problem accurately.

Two PC's are identical.

Input is digital via HDMI.

If I capture 720p the recorded audio is stable. But when I switch to 1080i (1080p is not available) that's when audio is static, wobbly and all together terrible.

When the replacement card arrives is gets installed I'll post an update to this forum as to what I find.

Thanks,

Terry

The problem cleared up with a new Intensity Pro card.
