I've just got the egpu and I was wondering if you have any recommendations regarding longer thunderbolt 3 cables to connect it to macbook pro 15 2018.

They get expensive when you need a longer cable with full speed as that requires what they call an "active cable". I use the Apple Thunderbolt 3 Pro Cable (2 m).

I wouldn't go any longer than that anyway.
