How to split Canon Cinema RAW Light files?

PostWed Oct 13, 2021 1:36 pm

I tried this workflow with Canon Cinema RAW Light files from the Canon R5. Unfortunately it doesn't work. I can't split or trim unused media. Will it be supported in the future?

Black Magic owns Braw so generating new Braw clips won't be an issue.

It wouldn't surprise me if their is license issues to generate new Red Raw, Canon Raw, etc, files.

You can of course use media management and convert to DNxHR HQX or 444. Not sure if they will actually be any smaller than cRaw Lite.

Not all formats can be split in Media Management. It works for Red and BRAW, but not for all GOP codecs.
Maybe Canon RAW isn't supported either.

Will it let you transcode them to Dnxhr to split them?

That should work.
