Your Audio Device is Configured with an unsupported buffer.

PostSat Oct 16, 2021 3:11 pm

Hi all, I'm getting this error when I start up Pro Tools:

Your Audio Device is Configured with an unsupported audio buffer size. Please select one of the following buffer sizes in the device control panel. 32, 64, 128, 156, 512, 1024 or 2048

I'm trying to setup pro tools with my Decklink Mini Monitor IO device as a video and audio output device. Whenever I select my Decklink Mini Monitor IO's aiso driver in pro tools settings, I relaunch and I get this error. I don't see an obvious way to change the cards buffer size anywhere.

Video recording of the error: https://streamable.com/0rvy2u

Pro Tools Version: 2021.7

Desktop Video Setup (Blackmagic Decklink Driver) Version: 12.1

How may I fix this issue?

It is best to use a separate audio interface with Pro Tools. The asio driver for BMD video i/o hardware is 16bit playback only, with no control panel for buffer. PT is not designed to use video i/o hardware for the audio. Fairlight can work in this way but again Asio is not ideal with this hardware.

Just an update on this in case anyone else stumbles across this thread.

Although the Declink Mini Monitor supports a Pro Tools video output (it can display video from a pro tools timeline to a reference monitor) - it was not supported as an audio output device.

FYI the latest versions of Pro Tools may be able to use this I/O card as an audio device as Pro Tools has moved away from Aiso and included support for interfaces that aren't aiso enabled.
