If/when they release a new Cintel scanner

If/when they release a new Cintel scanner

When this happens, I hope they allow the camera to zoom in or be moved up and down. This would allow for more resolution instead of wasting the sensor. Everytime I see the resolution chart for the different film sizes I think, "oof maybe the next one".

I don't believe this can be done for the Arriscanner, the Spirit scanners, or the Filmlight scanners either (all of which I've used). A blow-up is a blow-up, whether you do it optically with a lens or digitally with a crop or a reframe. It won't necessarily make the picture sharper.
