Intensity Extreme still usable?

PostWed Dec 22, 2021 5:52 am

I have an Intensity Extreme to send a feed to my client monitor and the AES/EBU out to get audio to my Presonus. It's worked well and I love it, even on my 2017 iMac with a thunderbolt 1 to 3 adapter on Big Sur.

Just got one of the new MacBook Pros, and Desktop Video Setup won't recognize it. The machine can tell it's there if I go into System Report, but nothing from Blackmagic's software. I tried Desktop Video 11.7 and 12.2.

I'd really love to avoid purchasing new hardware if at all possible, especially since the hardware works fine. Anyone know any workarounds?

Unfortunately, some of the older devices are incompatible with the M1 machines.
Check the list of hardware requirements.

BTW, that 2017 iMac had TB 2, not one. Or is yours older?
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

Thanks for the reply. Sad but makes sense.

The 2017 iMac has Thunderbolt 3. The T1 port is on the Intensity Extreme which is why I need the converter.

Hello Jonathan.

I found a Youtube video with some hints how to use the Intensity Extreme on a Macbook.
I´m not sure, if it helps with your problem, but maybe give it a try.

Unsure if i can link Youtube video here - otherwise just drop me a message :-)

You can link it, but if you have not posted a certain number of times, ULRs are not accepted.
Put a space into it in an obvious place.

Any chance you could at least post the title of said video?
