Avid Media Composer playback intermittently stops or stutters while using Ultrastudio Monitor 3G.
Latest and previous versions of Desktop Video had the same issue (12.3 & 12.4)
Playback is perfect without it connected.
Specs:
macOS Monterey / Mac Studio (2022) / M1 Max / 64 GB RAM
UltraStudio Monitor 3G / Thunderbolt 3 / Firmware Version: 20.4 / Port (Upstream): / Link Controller Firmware Version: 0.31.0

What version of Media Composer are you running? Have you found a fix?

Hi, we have a very similar situation. with 2 Avids in our facility. It is very annoying, we need a fix before the director gets here to work with us! I recently posted this in the avid forum without luck, the I stumbled across this post.
In our case, I get a freezeframe after 1min 40 seconds of playback for about 1-2 seconds. After that, the playback continues without sound (the timeline has only 4 audiotracks, no effects). The error occurs every single time after I start the system. Then it happens randomly.
I found a temporary fix by increasing the file cache to around 10/12GB. Video Memory is set to 6GB in the Media cache settings of Avid MediaComposer.
BUT: It just lasted until the next day that the playback stutters again.
Specs: Mac Studio M1 Max with 32GB memory, Mac OS Monterey 12.2, Avid MediaComposer 2022.12.2, Desktop Video 12.4.

Hi there,
Any news on this? Avid 2022.12.0 and 2022.12.1 is instable/hangs on a base Mac Studio (32Gb Ram), Ventura 13.2.1 and Desktop Video 12.4.2
Works flawlessly if I disable the BMD Card.
I tried the terminal trick, but that doesn't work.
sudo mv /Library/Application\ Support/Blackmagic\ Design/Blackmagic\ DeckLink/Signed\ Extensions/BlackmagicIO.kext /Library/Extensions
Any ideas on this? I can work using the Full Screen Playback on a second monitor and bypassing the BMD, but it would be nice this would work.
thx
