Desktop Video 12.4.1 removes application support?

PostSun Nov 27, 2022 4:59 pm

Have just checked and some Avid users are managing to get the 12.4.1 drivers to work if they manually reinstall applicatrion drivers.
I think the BMD 12.4.1 installer creates a Blackmagic Desktop Video folder instead of a Desktop Video Folder, deletes files froim the Desktop Video folder then does not install new ones.
Also I suppose apps need updating to look in this new folder.
Desktop video itself becomes Blackmagic Desktop Video.
I never got to checking it with Resolve before rolling back to 12.4
Maybe it is just a windows 11 22h2 issue, maybe it is a Threadripper Pro issue.
Be good if there was some BMD invetstigation, but until then I thought I would mention it here in case anyone gets stuck. It might help to zip up your dektop video folders first then you can manually put those elemenst into the Blackmagic desktop video folder and get some but maybe not all functionality back until BMD release 12.4.2!

Same here. I update to Desktop Video 12.4.1 (on windows 10) and my adobe apps missing my Blackmagic Intensity Pro 4K. I had to rollback to 12.4.

Same here! Decklink 8k and Ultrastudio Extreme does not work with Desktop Video 12.4.1 and AVID MC 22.10 and lower.
What's going on? Here's what's running: Decklink 8K Pro, Ultrastudio 4K Extreme 3, DaVinci Resolve Mini Panel, DaVinci Resolve Advanced Panel, MacStudioUltra, HP Z6G4, HP Z2G4, MacPro 6.1, DR/DR Studio, Avid MC 22.x, Adobe CC, and more

I'd assume a bug, not intentionally removing support.
12.4.1 is working fine here via USM 3G with After Effects under Monterey.
My desaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

Further to all of this. I update to 12.4.1 today and the result was pretty catastrophic.
On reboot, I saw things were a bit weird.
None of my other apps or USB hardware would boot their respective extensions on startup.

I have just wiped the internal drive (Mac Studio Ultra) and restoring from a CCC backup now. That's several hours lost. Aargh
