Cloud Store Mini Not Connecting through switch?

I have a cloud store mini that will connect through Ethernet to my PC no problem. When I put it through a switch (tried multiple kinds of switches) it can't find it anymore. The switches are unmanaged, and we've used them for our other shared storage systems in the past. I'm pretty confident I've set up the IP addresses right and I don't think a switch should change anything... right?

Am I missing something?

just a suggestion - assign a static IP to your switch (I know you are using unmanaged switches - get a managed switch) and assign a static IP to your Cloud Store Mini, and to your 10G port on your computer. Now you can easily "ping" each of these to see what is working. Do not rely on "self assigned IP addresses".
