Decklink Mini Monitor 4K not working...SOLVED

Hello All,

i installed the Decklink Mini Monitor 4K Card .
Getting nothing showing up !

downloaded and installed the software -- " desktop video 12.4.2"
running MacOS ventura 13.0.1
running a hackintosh on hardware --> Z590-plus ASUS motherboard with AMD Radeon RX 580

Tried booting up Ubuntu 22.04 on the same hardware setup
Decklink card does not show up either

The "HDMI UHD TV" shows some kind of signal coming out of the Decklink card-- it says "480i 60HZ "on the TV

i took out the RX580 card, and inserted the decklink card into the main graphics card slot ( that the RX580 works fine) and don't even get a boot up screen.

i checked the BIOS, but don't see anything obvious to change.

Anybody have any suggestions?
I am at a loss here!!

Bill

I had a similar situation during a recent new z790 build. I installed 12.4.2 and the card would not show up in Premiere. I ended up uninstalling and then installing 12.4 and then the card showed up. Might be worth a shot.

That is the fun of running a hackintosh...and why i quit using them. Too much of a hassle figuring out new kernals for new hardware/software all the time. I have better things to do with my time, so i bailed on them.

Update--
i got it to work in Ubuntu--
once the whole driver downloaded from the blackmagic website was installed
once the "dkms" install was finished
the card firmware needed to be updated in Terminal with
"DesktopVideoUpdateTool "

so now Ubuntu recognizes the card
why does a NEW card need to update its firmware during initial install?
bumma

now onto the next step, which is the MacOS install

I'll bet it would work in a real Mac...or a PC...that is where they throw their support.

OK
now working in MacOS Ventura hackintosh
I had to run this command to install the BlackmagicIO.kext in the folder
terminal command -->
sudo mv /Library/Application\ Support/Blackmagic\ Design/Blackmagic\ DeckLink/Signed\ Extensions/BlackmagicIO.kext /Library/Extensions

it will ask you to "approve the security" or some sh*t
then approve it and restart

for some reason the regular install does NOT put that kext in the folder
after that, VIOLA!
hackintosh works

In Resolve, go to Preferences and pick the Video I/O tab
and select the Decklink card for your Monitor
DONE

Thank you so much!! It was driving me crazy! I have a Hackintosh too.

It works for me on OS Monterey, Resolve 18.6.2, Desktop Video 12.7 and Decklink Mini Monitor HD

Then, for your mental sanity, stick to that MacOS as long as you can.

Hi, I am also running a Mini-Monitor 4K on a hackintosh. Still using OS 10.14.6 Mojave, Desktop Video Setup 11.5. Works OK with Resolve and Premiere. Strange/funny: everytime I boot Windows on this machine, it asks for a firmware update for the Mini-Monitor. If I do update and later boot macOS, it will ask for a firmware update again. So it seems to be either/or. Anyone else experiencing this?
