Resolve or FFMPEG settings to import into Media Express

PostMon Mar 06, 2023 3:08 am

I'm trying to get any video I've created to import into Media Express so then I can display via my Intensity Shuttle. It seems like any video I create via Resolve and/or render through FFMPEG, Media Express rejects the artifact.

What settings on Resolve and/or FFMPEG do I need to configure so Media Express will accept the result for import.

thx!

I can open H.264 and H.265, either in a mp4 wrapper or as mov, without any problem.
ProRes Works too. I'd expect DNxHD/HR to work as well.
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

I don't see any reason why that shouldn't work.
Can you post a short sample to a cloud service?

This file imports fine into media express:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/q8ht2gdb26s1h ... 1.mov?dl=0

THIS file is one I made that I want to import into Media Express... and I'm trying to mimic the same encoding options at the above files:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/q142zleyh0pg2 ... e.mov?dl=0

This is the source file I dropped into my Resolve timeline to make the file above:

Your format looks a bit strange, it seems to be horizontally squeezed in 4:3, but stretched if I go to 16:9.
Anyway, hard to tell with such an extreme wide angle lens. And then, it's progressive.
But the files you made are in SD and interlaced, and Media Express seems to refuse that.

I have encoded one HD version in 4:3 (with black bars) in H.264 and one in ProRes LT. Both play flawlessly in Media Express. Please note that these are in a .mov wrapper:

Thx!

I'm trying to make a file that's formatted for NTSC (like the first file I posted).

Are you able to render one of those successfully?

Nope, doesn't work here either. Media Express doesn't seem to like it.
What's your output device? Some hardware can do the conversion from HD to SD.

Well, since I normally tend to use Handbrake for H.264, I gave it a try.
The file is here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/qj7t3hegtxyyu ... D.mp4?dl=0
And, surprise, it works with these settings (at the bottom are the ffmpeg settings):

First, THANK YOU -- Handbrake worked for me too.

Second, how stupid I can't get Resolve Studio to create output that Media Express can not consume. gah!

I'm facing the same problem, trying to convert a (youtube video) test patern, to be outputed from my Intensity Shuttle to a vcr (PAL) maybe the issues are not being interlaced and also should not be progessive ?
so it should be CBR and interlaced at least ? 720x576i50 ? (for PAL vhs test tape)
Intensity Shuttle, ATEM Mini, Video Assist 5"(mini USB), Hyperdeck ShuttleHD,Analog to SDI mini-converter, software: Davinci Resolve 15 on Sierra, Resolve 18 on Catalina. (Using Apple OS 32 & 64 bit on different MacBook Pro's
