Updating Camera Raw made it so no BRAW files work

PostTue May 30, 2023 8:12 pm

I was literally editing yesterday in PP 2023 with BRAW files and everything was smooth as silk. This morning I updated my BMPCC 6kPro to the latest firmware and it updated Camera Raw to 3.0 on my machine and now all my BRAW clips show up as offline in Premiere and the BRAW player crashes before it even starts. I uninstalled and went to Camera Raw 3.1 and nothing changed. Uninstalled and put 7.9 back and everything is still broken.

Any ideas on what happened? This is troublesome as I need to edit things!

Re: Updating Camera Raw made it so no BRAW files work

Same problem in older versions of Premiere that also worked with BRAW just fine
updated PP2023 to the latest update: that made it so the current version of PP doesn't even work. Crashes on trying to open

Chrome also wouldn't even open so I reinstalled that

This is insane. Literally the only change I made to the machine was installing the latest BM Camera Setup app and my whole computer now has a suite of horrible issues that is crippling my entire work situation. Is this a known thing or do I just have the worst luck?

Well I got it working! Sheesh what a nightmare. After confirming that BRAW wouldn't even work in Resolve or the BRAW player I realized this was something with a plugin and not software so I just nuked every BMD thing off the machine (video assist, intensity card, braw and camera) and verified that there was nothing BMD related in the Adobe/Common/Mediacore folder and after a restart installed Camera Raw 3.1 and everything works as it should.

So if you run into this just take everything BMD off, verify your Mediacore folder doesn't have stuff like "bmdtransmit" and such and then when you reinstall it will work.

Updating Camera Raw made it so no BRAW files work

PostWed May 31, 2023 6:58 am

Could be a combination of your hardware and win 10 personal? I had two win pc where I have. Win10 pro last update and win 11 (notebook) and all contue to work fine also with last camera tool installed.

Win 10 pro with and driver and win11 notebook with 1070 full studio driver.

Obviously latest premiere 2023, but… I usually when I install update of Adobe, first I remove old premiere after install from cloud app and then install like fresh install, in past i founded many bugs on premiere installed over previous installation.

Ps I re read your answer, it’s so strange that braw is not readable from resolve be cause braw library are internally, like in premiere are a plug-in.

From win 8 and from when apple moved to Avfondation you cannot more install codec on Os, you install plugin on single software to expand ability to read newer codec or format.

To be honest I thought until now that to update braw you should install braw from his installer, I never saw that you have also in camera Tool. :-)

Pps in this situation could be better to go back to previous restore point of win.
