Blackmagic Cloud and Synology

PostWed Jun 07, 2023 12:35 pm

Is is possible to use Blackmagic Cloud in conjunction with a Synology NAS for remote (non LAN) collaboration?

I.e. The Synology NAS would be at the location of Editor 1.

Editor 1: Has direct access to files.
Editor 2: Has files/file structure synced via Synology Drive, and access the project via Blackmagic Cloud.
Colourist: Also has files synced w/ Synology Drive, and access project via Blackmagic Cloud.

The BM Cloud website mentions dropbox and google as file syncing tools, given Synology Drive is essentially doing the same thing, I see no reason why this wouldn't work. Unless there's something I've missed?

YES. The first Cloud Pod I did was with a QNAP system. The process was easy. The QNAP (and the Synology) will sync to Dropbox. So you pick a folder on your Synology to Sync to Dropbox (you have Dropbox credentials). You then tell the Cloud Pod at your remote location to sync to the same Drop Box credentials, and the data will transfer from Dropbox down to the drive plugged into the Cloud Pod.
